                    Grades of Copper

Surepure Chemetals sells three main grades of copper:

                    • CDA 101 Copper is also known as C101 Copper, C10100 Copper, and Oxygen-Free Electronic (OFE) copper.
CDA 101 Copper refers to copper that is at least 99.99% pure copper and has a maximum oxygen content of 0.0005%.
CDA is an acronym for the Copper Development Association.
                    • CDA 102 Copper is also known as C102 Copper, C10200 Copper, and Oxygen-Free (OF) Copper.
CDA 102 Copper refers to copper that is at least 99.95% pure copper and has a maximum oxygen content of 0.001%.
                    • CDA 110 Copper is also known as C110 Copper, C11000 Copper, and Electrolytic-Tough-Pitch (ETP) Copper.
CDA 110 Copper refers to copper that is at least 99.9% pure copper.
It is commonly used in electrical applications.

                    OFHC Copper

CDA101 Copper and CDA102 Copper comprise a group known as
Oxygen-Free High thermal Conductivity Copper (OFHC Copper) or
                    Oxygen-Free Copper (OFC Copper).
These are covered by the ASTM B170 specification (Standard Specification for Oxygen-Free Electrolytic Copper-Refinery Shapes) and
the ASTM F-68 specification (Standard Specification for Oxygen-Free Copper in Wrought Forms for Electron Devices).

                    Uses of Copper

Copper is useful for cryogenics, high-quality audio wire, plasma deposition or sputtering, semiconductors, and many other uses.

Harmonized System Export Codes for Copper

The HS code for copper wire with diameter <= 6 mm is 7408.19.00.
The HS code for copper wire with diameter > 6 mm is 7408.11.
The HS code for copper rod is 7407.10.50.50.

The HS code for copper foil with thickness <= 0.15 mm is 7410.11.00.00.
The HS code for copper strip in a coil is 7409.11.
The HS code for copper sheet or plate is 7409.19.
The HS code for copper rectangular bar is 7407.10.50.10.

The HS code for copper powder is 7406.10.00.00.

Surepure Chemetals sells copper in several forms:

                    Copper rod
                    1.00" diameter

Standard diameters range from 0.004" to 1.00".
We use the term "wire" for smaller diameters that are supplied on a spool or as a coil.
We use the term "rod" when the diameter is large enough that it can be supplied as a straight length.
Surepure Chemetals can supply copper wire meeting the ASTM B1, ASTM B2, or ASTM B3 specifications.

Buy Copper Foil, Sheet, Plate, Strip, and Ribbon

Our flat copper products are covered by the ASTM B152 specification.
Standard thicknesses range from 0.0005" to 0.250".
We use the terms "foil," "sheet," and "plate" for shorter cut pieces (usually up to 12" long) that are usually supplied flat.
                    "Foil" is very thin;
                    "Sheet" is a little thicker and is thus a little stronger and bends less;
"Plate" is even thicker and is barely pliable.
We use the term "ribbon" for longer narrow pieces that are usually supplied on a spool.
We use the term "strip" for longer wider pieces that are usually supplied on a cardboard core.
